Our Journey
Catenary Home was born from our founder and designer Wicksie Tu’s decade-long search for better cat furniture for her cat, Owen. Living together in New York for over ten years, they shared small urban spaces where every piece in the home mattered. Owen was more than a pet, he was a family member and roommate. Yet each time Wicksie searched for cat products, the options compromised either function or design.
After moving to Austin, Texas, the problem persisted even with more space. So she began designing her own pieces. With New York roots and an Austin headquarters, Catenary was founded to create cat essentials that support a cat’s needs while complementing a contemporary, design-forward home.
Our Philosophy
Catenary is inspired by the graceful U-shaped curve formed by a free-hanging chain, a mathematically elegant balance of strength and form. This principle sits at the heart of our design philosophy.
We believe cat furniture can be more than practical; it can be a considered design object that enhances the home. Every piece begins with the idea that beauty and functionality belong together. From initial sketches to materials and final proportions, each design is carefully refined and prototyped to ensure it serves both cats and the spaces they share with their people.
